3.0.0 Safe to install
The SafeTTC App provides Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) customers with a convenient and discreet platform to report harassment, safety concerns, or suspicious activities directly to the TTC’s Transit Control Centre. By utilizing this application, customers have the opportunity to contribute to enhancing safety on public transit by submitting comprehensive reports of incidents observed within the TTC system, be it on a vehicle, at a station, or bus/streetcar stop.
Upon launching the app, users are presented with two straightforward ways to contact Transit Control:
- The "Report a Problem" feature enables users to send text, photos, or videos directly to Transit Control. The reporting process involves selecting the vehicle type (bus, streetcar, subway), route numbers, and station locations via drop-down menus, as well as specifying report categories to aid Transit Control in assessing the situation.
- The "Call Police" option establishes a direct link to 9-1-1 dispatch and is designated for situations requiring emergency police, fire, or medical assistance.
Specifically tailored for subway use, the application stores reports made in areas without cellular connectivity until a connection is established to automatically transmit them. To expedite the reporting process, text messages are sent before images for prompt receipt by Transit Control.
Additional Features:
- Users can receive alerts (referred to as BOLO – Be On the Look Out) through the app. For instance, SafeTTC may issue information about a missing person, including their description, photo, and last known location. In the event that relevant information is available regarding an alert, users may reach out or submit a report to Transit Control via the app.
NOTE: Utilizing this app to submit a report does not trigger immediate emergency response. Hence, in situations necessitating emergency police, fire, or medical assistance, it is crucial to contact 9-1-1 through the app or telephone.
